This series of recent works explores the self, design, and time. We metaphorically place ourselves and aspects of being human in artworks to memorialize our existence, leaving something memorable and meaningful in our wake. My works are instances in my life that hold meaning and allow people into my world. Our perception of self changes over time, and as I add life experiences, my work will reflect the rhythmic path I choose. I want to take people on a journey that is familiar yet imaginative.
My process for painting begins with identifying a feeling, something fleeting and ethereal. I often use collages to work through my compositions, enabling me to create pieces with natural chaos and balance. I enjoy altering my outward appearance to reveal the inner layers of myself that are not often expressed. When moving into the final piece, it's essential for me to have a strong understanding of proportions, values, and movement.
Sensory experiences rule the way I understand and navigate the world. Moments of my life are re-categorized into colors from moments of joy, grief, success, struggle and growth.
