Seeing Faces in the Sky

Oil on canvas

20” x 16”

It was not easy to create lightness, to convey the weightlessness of the sky, combining it with the volume of the human body. This work gives me a sad nostalgia associated with my family. The blurriness of the faces is due to their distance from me after the move to the US, but the visible strip of sky behind, adding depth to the composition, speaks of the hope of a bright future, as wide and changing as the sky. While drawing this work, I tried to move away from everyday life and see in negative moments light and bright beginnings that will only help me move forward.
