The Goose Laundress

Charcoal and soft pastel on newsprint

24” x 18”

This is a study for my interpretation of a Slavic fairytale, where a girl is being turned into a goose by a witch spell. In this sketch, I was trying different poses for this goose girl washing clothes in the river. I used Conti pencil and pastels to create a nice balance for big masses of light and shadow, and the fluidity of lines with different weights.
